Government of India and Its Websites


I am just fed-up with how government functions. All the Pub Ad stuff is weird specially when it comes to implementation in India and by the Government. The efficiency of Government organisations are always questioned and the quality of the product they deliver is unacceptable. Even their websites are not untouched. For instance see the websites designed and hosted by National Informatics Centre (NIC). Every site it has hosted or designed has a disclaimer that the content is maintained by the respective department or organisation of the government. But the question is not about content. The design of the websites is not up to the standards accepted by the industry.

The book name is Early records of British India: a history of the English settlements in India, as told in the Government Records, the works of old travellers and other contemporary documents, from the earliest period down to the rise of British power in India.  I happen to read it few years back and loved it. Though I could not finish reading it but there remains this interest to complete it. Still searching for this book in a good condition. I can buy it online like I normally do but would love to buy it from a book shop. Continue reading

Migration


Lately we have seen this coming up as a major issue and finding a great TRP for news channel. The hue and cry about the issue and the implication of speeches of leaders fighting against migration and those favouring it has led to the sufferage and humility by most of the non-Marathis(I don’t want to use this phrase, but this is the common usage these days and so people are familiar with this phrase more than any relative of this phrase) in the state of Maharashtra. The people who were beaten mercilessly were mostly poor people belonging to lower income group and ofcourse were easily vulnerable to these attacks on them.
