Where to file Grievance against Public Grievance Portal?

After trying for more than two hours, I have lost the patience and I feel exhausted. Somehow I have gathered energy to write this post.

Before we begin, ere are two screenshots of the Lodge a Grievance Page.

I tried to lodge a grievance against Ministry of Railways but I was not able to submit it. Why? Check this screenshot:-

I got two errors:-

  • Description should be less than 4000 characters
  • Special Characters are not allowed in Subject description

Those among you who are in IT will say that I must have used special characters and the characters used would be more than 4000. I checked all this, the message that I was trying to post here didn’t had any special characters. Moreover, just check the screen shots, and let me know where can I find Subject description?

I have masked the content as I do not want to publish for the sake of anonymity. You can clearly see the following message above the Description text area:-

*Please enter Grievance Description upto 3634 characters

Compare this with the second image above. It clearly means that there are 3634 characters left. For special characters, I would like you to take my word. There are no special characters. I have even removed any full stop, commas, etc or for that matter I have not even included any number.

Now, tell me what should I do? Where shall I file a grievance against the Public Grievance Portal?

Have some respect for the Constitution

Mr Kejriwal says, “Anna Hazare is above Parliament and that he has the right to do so as a citizen … Every citizen is above Parliament.” If this is the understanding of a person who was once part of Indian Revenue Services then no doubt he was not even suited for any of the services. He must first need to clear his concepts on Polity and then give arguments. His arguments are unnecessarily provocative. It is not that individual citizens are above Parliament. The Parliament represents the collective will of the people elected through a democratic process. He must remember the dictum, “However high one may be, the law is above.” Parliament is the reflection and the representation of the voice of the majority. Parliament is the collective voice ofIndiaand has the authority to run the country.

Though Mr. Hazare started out with his movement to fight corruption, he seems to be very selective now in choosing his targets. If the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed by Parliament in Winter Session that will start in November, then Team Anna has every right to create public opinion in favour of the Bill and fight the government in elections. Some personalities accused of corruption are behind bars and the system is working slowly. The kind of frequent threats being held out by Mr. Hazare and civil society will cause damage to parliamentary democracy and result only in chaos.

There are few questions that I want to ask Mr. Kejriwal and Team Anna. Can a democracy allow a group of individuals to define ‘change,’ however well intended it may be, without the legitimate authority of the people? Have they lost faith in democracy and think that only one individual can set matters right in the country?

If they have lost faith in Parliamentary democracy and the Constitution, then why do they want Parliament to pass a law? Go ahead and violently turn the Constitution down and act as per their whims.

It is a fact that Team Anna has mobilised people to fight against corruption. No doubt, the UPA has fuelled corruption, but it cannot be taken to be the sole agent of corruption. Every Indian needs a corruption-free nation. However, graft is omnipresent. It is not individual specific or party specific. Team Anna should not be biased for or against any party. The Gandhian movement was against the British as they had colonised India. But a similar struggle cannot be equal to a movement against one party. Can it be? The movement must have a cause to uproot a social evil and not the party in power when it is in majority. At least have some respect for the Constitution!! It is not that Constitution has failed us, it is we who have failed the Constitution.

Cash-for-vote Scandal and Case of H G Mudgal, 1951 – Waiting for Parliament to take action!!

Many of my friends might not know about the case of H G Mudgal. So, let us first focus on it. This case exemplifies the serious concern shown by the Parliament of India in the year 1951 about the misconduct of a member. The Constitution of India came into force in 1950. Therefore, Parliament can be termed as in nascent stage of its development. Thus, this case becomes more important to note because it illustrates how the members of an institute should work.

Bura Jo Dekhan Main Chala, Bura Naa Milya Koye

I just read this poem on FB. Thought it is good to share. Today in the morning, there was a group in motor-cycle who was crying slogans to support Anna Hazare and against corruption. On a crossing the Red Light was ON. I was standing there waiting for it to turn green when these guys came from behind and over-stepped the STOP line. I asked the person driving on the bike, does he thinks that he is not corrupt.  Soon, it was about to turn green ( 3-4 seconds remaining) when he crossed the road without waiting for the traffic signal to turn green. I was just wondering whether he and his friends understand the meaning of corruption and the reason that it prevails in our society.  As Kabir had said,

Bura Jo Dekhan Main Chala, Bura Naa Milya Koye
Jo Mann Khoja Apnaa, To Mujhse Bura Naa Koye

I searched for the crooked, met not a single one
When searched myself, “I” found the crooked one

Until and unless we improve ourselves, how can we think of improving others?

LokPal Bill

#Courtesy Times of India. Copy pasted from Times of India!!

Much has been made of the decision to put the Prime Minister under the purview of the proposed corruption watchdog, the Lokpal, but the official draft of the Lokpal Bill is full of escape clauses for politicians. All critical decisions in the proposed anti-corruption regime will remain firmly in the hands of the ruling dispensation, although that is the main cause for the widespread impunity for scams involving politicians. In fact, the official draft, which may be promulgated as an ordinance soon, is hardly an improvement on the current situation. Civil society has proposed an option with more teeth. Continue reading
